Making Threats Visible

Project Name:
BlackBerry Malaysia
Client:
BlackBerry

The Challenge

BlackBerry needed to support the Malaysian Government Secure Communications (GSC) initiative with sales enablement content that resonated with federal decision-makers and critical infrastructure teams.

When BlackBerry engaged Pounce, the challenge was twofold. First, existing collateral relied heavily on technical feature lists rather than a compelling, human-centric narrative. The business needed a "WHY" story that contextualised the risks of communication failure in a national security framework.

Second, the content required deep localisation. To be effective for the Malaysian federal government, the messaging needed to incorporate local threat landscapes, align with national security priorities, and adhere to strict visual guidelines required for government-endorsed materials.

The Approach

We built a performance-based content strategy centered on operational clarity and national relevance. Instead of pushing features, we developed two distinct infographics focusing on the outcomes of secure communication: Crisis Management (AtHoc) and Classified Communications (SecuSUITE).

Our process focused on three pillars:

  • Strategic Storytelling: We shifted the narrative from "What does the software do?" to "How does this prevent a national security catastrophe?". We framed communications not as a technology choice, but as a critical mission component.
  • Data Localisation: We curated localised data points, replacing generic statistics with Malaysian-specific insights—including 2024 scam call metrics, ransomware trends, and government data breach impacts—to ensure immediate credibility with federal audiences.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: We managed a complex approval matrix, navigating brand guidelines alongside government requirements to incorporate official entities like NACSA, MKN, and MCMC.

The Outcome

The resulting campaign provided BlackBerry with two powerful, government-endorsed sales enablement assets.

Through a collaborative iterative process, we secured official sign-off from key NACSA stakeholders, confirming that both infographics accurately reflected the national security landscape and GSC objectives.

The campaign successfully transformed BlackBerry’s APAC sales narrative, providing the team with assets that balance high-level technical integrity with the urgency of local risk management. This project strengthened BlackBerry’s position within the Malaysian federal sector, delivering a clear, compliant, and culturally resonant story that supports the ongoing GSC initiative.
